除夕的中午，我见奶奶煮了好多饭，就好奇的上前去询问：为什么要煮这么多饭，我们一顿也吃不了呀?奶奶回答道：“今天要多煮一些，大年初一可不能再煮新鲜饭。因为土家族人很少吃鱼，所以就要多煮饭，这也叫‘年年有余’吧。”

除夕的下午，爷爷和爸爸一起贴对联，我也过去凑热闹。东看看，西瞧瞧。这时爸爸问我：“你知道我们为什么要贴对联吗?”我回答：“知道一点点，喜庆呗。”“也对吧，对联是为了表达人们祈求新年福运的美好心愿。现在我们贴好了对联，就不能往外扔东西了，连垃圾也不能扔，一直要到大年初二才可以扔东西。这样就表示把财圈在家里了。”爸爸接着说。

除夕的傍晚，由家里的最长者带领全家去“拜山祭祖”。在先辈的坟前点上红烛和香，摆上祭品，以表对先辈的怀念。这也是对他们的尊敬。
